Two hundred kilometres above the Arctic Circle hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers are finding a new life in northern Norway, but recently the doors have been shutting on those desperate to start fresh in the High North.
From July 1. Russia introduces several amendments to the law on production and sale of alcohol. The new laws first of all concerns beer, which from that date will be affected by the same laws as other alcoholic beverages.
Nobody in Russia knows what time it will be after October 28. Fixed summertime like today, permanent wintertime, or a switch between the two. The State Duma has to find a way out of the current time-confusing situation.
“Equal rules for journalists reporting across the borders in the Barents Region should be included in the new Kirkenes-declaration to be signed by the Prime Ministers of Norway, Russia, Sweden and Finland,” says head of Barents Press Morten Ruud.
The national statistical offices in the Barents Region are taking the first steps towards establishing a permanent cross-border statistical cooperation.
