Murmanskers travel more to Norway than to Finland

Russians living in Murmansk Oblast are now traveling more often to Norway than to Finland, according to Russian data.

According to Murmansk FSB, more than 60,000 people crossed the border to Norway at Borsioglebsk border crossing point during the first seven months of 2014. 13,000 of these were non-Russians.

In January-July 54,000 people crossed the Russian-Finnish border at Salla and Lotta border crossing points. The number of foreigners at these two places was 18,000 Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.

In 2013 nearly 387,000 people crossed the Finnish-Russian border between Lapland and Murmansk Oblast, while a little more than 320,000 crossed the Norwegian-Russian border, according to data from Patchwork Barents.
