The Russian trawler “Novoazovsk” was detained by the Norwegian coast guard vessel “KV Nordkapp” in the Norwegian Sea on January 13, accused of illegal dumping of fish.

The fishing vessel’s captain was fined 30.000 NOK (€3576) and the ship owner arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet 100.000 NOK (€11.920). In addition, 250.000 NOK – the value of the illegal fishing, has been confiscated from the ship owner, NRK writes.

The trawler will not be allowed to leave Tromsø before guarantees are made that the fines and confiscations will be paid. According to the Russian Fisheries Agency, the vessel will leave Norway on Friday evening and resume fishing, Moscow Times writes.
