The ice-classed tanker “Varzuga” is now on its way back to Murmansk after unloading near 13.000 tons of diesel in the port of Pevek. A fourth delivery of diesel-fuel from Murmansk to Chukotka will sail in October, then onboard the tanker” Indiga”, reports B-port.com.

In total, 53.500 tons of diesel-fuel will have been transported onboard the two tankers on this seasons four voyages.

Transport of diesel-fuel from Murmansk to the Far East was resumed in 2009.

In July last year, the two tankers nudged each other in the Arctic while sailing in an area with difficult ice-conditions. The incident did not cause any leakages or other serious problems for the vessels.
