-There is no doubt that the launch of the Bovanenkovo will take place in May-June next year, Deputy Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Vladimir Vladimirov hightlights in a press release. According to the regional official, the west-bound gas pipeline connecting the field with the Russian national gas pipeline, including the part stretching across the Baidarata Bay, is soon ready to be filled with gas, RIA Novosti reports.

With the launch of the Bovanenkovo field, Gazprom opens a new era in the gas-rich Yamal Peninsula. With its about 4.9 trillion cubic meters of reserves, the field is the biggest in the Arctic peninsula. The annual production is estimated to 115 billion cubic meters, all of which will be pipelined towards western markets.
Gazprom has spent major sums on the facilitating the development of the Bovanenkovo, as well as other Yamal fields. A pipeline stretches through the Komi Republic to the city of Ukhta and further to the Torzhok infrastructure hub. In addition, Gazprom has built a new railway line to the peninsula.
