Vladimir Putin on Tuesday told VG that Russia and Norway have good prospects in trade and development of relations.

A lot has already been done in the relations between Norway and Russia, the President stated. “When Stoltenberg was Prime Minister we solved some of our problems concerning resources in northern waters. We have very good prospects when it comes to trade and development of our relations,” Putin said. “I hope that what we have achieved will not be lost, but that we will continue forward,” he added.

VGTV talked to the president after the closing ceremony of the World Chess Championship in Sochi, where Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen won.

President Putin praised Carlsen for his ‘genius’ and thanked him for coming to Sochi to play in the World Championship. Carlsen and his opponent Viswanathan Anand were invited to have tea with the president after the ceremony.
