Aeroflot – Finance has purchased the 49% share of Nordavia from a private shareholder. From before, Aeroflot has 51% and has now gained consolidated control over all of the airlines shares, according to a press-note   posted at the airline’s web-portal.

Nordavia changed its name from Aeroflot Nord last year. Aeroflot said shortly after the fatal Aeroflot-Nord Boeing 737 crash near Perm in September 2008 that its subsidiaries should not fly with the Aeroflot brand in their names. Before taking the name Aeroflot Nord, the airliner was named Arkhangelsk airlines.

The airliner is the only company operating international flights within the Barents Region with its route from Arkhangelsk via Murmansk to Tromsø in Northern Norway.

Within Russia, Nordavia operates around 60 flights daily from most airports in the Russian part of the Barents Region. Half of the flights are in code-share with Aeroflot.
