Murmansk upgrades power transmission system

More than four billion rubles of federal money will over the next two years be invested in a new electrical substation and new transmission lines in Murmansk Oblast.

It is the Federal Grid Company UES, which will construct the substation with a projected capacity of 333 kW, MBnews.ru reports. Together with the laying of new transmission lines in the southern part of the region, the substation will significantly help improve electricity transmission capacities in the region, the news site informs. According to First Deputy Governor Aleksey Savin, the bigger capacities will also facilitate the development of the Murmansk Transport Hub. The new transmission lines south in the region will help ship surplus energy to neighboring regions. The investments will amount to four billion RUB and construction of the objects will start already this year. The project is to be completed in 2014.
