The federal government has approved the establishment of a special economic zone in the port of Murmansk, Governor Dmitriyenko confirmed after meetings in Moscow this week.

The development of the zone will be made in three phases, which eventually will boost the port’s trade turnover to more than 100 million tons by year 2025, a press release from the regional government reads. The plans includes the construction of a railway to the western side of the Kola Bay.
