With the appointment, Poronova will head the financial affairs of Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko and his ten ministries. She will also lead the most female-dominated ministry in the region. Of the nineteen top officials in the ministry, only six are men, information from the ministry shows. In the three-person ministry leadership team there will now be only women.
However, seeing the regional administration as a whole, Poronova is the only female minister, and one of only three women in the governor’s team. From before, Governor Dmitriyenko has two women among his deputies, Natalya Portnaya and Lyudmila Chistova.
In the federal government, three of 17 ministers are women and none of the nine first deputy prime minister and deputy prime ministers are women.
The Murmansk Finance Ministry controls a key part of the regional economy and manages a budget of about 35 billion RUB.
Tatyana Poronova comes from the city of Angarsk in Irkutsk Oblast, a press release from the regional administration reads. She has never earlier worked in Murmansk Oblast.
