A two year grant is given to the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland in Finland to build a research network focusing on political and economic development in the Barents Region from the perspective of sustainable development.
The network is led by research professor Monica Tennberg and its members come from universities in Lapland, Tromso, Umeå, Luleå and Eastern Finland. In addition, the network has Russian participants from Kola Science Centre and Independent Social Research Centre in St. Petersburg. The network is especially meant for doctoral students.
The research network will organize three workshops and an open conference and produce a joint publication. The first workshop will be organized in Rovaniemi in mid-December.
