Northern Fleet gets back oil base

The terminal for heavy fuel oil to the Northern fleet's naval vessels has in the latest years been used as reloading of oil for the world market.

The Northern Fleet will get back its fuel supply base in the Kola Bay after a court invalidated the 2012 deal to sale the facility.

Location

The Russian Ministry of Defense is leading a campaign to get back several buildings and areas which it lost in the high-profile Oboronservis corruption case.

A court in Moscow on Thursday ruled the sales of the Northern Fleet’s fuel supply base in Mokhnatkina Pakhta invalid. The base was sold in October last year on orders from Oboronservis. The price was set to 452 million rubles, some 240 million rubles less than the value of the installations.

The base will be returned to the Northern Fleet as soon as the decision comes into force, the Main Military Prosecution’s web site reads.

Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov was dismissed in November 2012 to ensure the impartiality of the criminal investigation. He has so far been summoned for questioning as a witness in embezzlement cases linked to Oboronservis.
