Strong political support to Blogger51

Blogger Aleksander Serebryanikov gets support from many people, also Murmansk Duma deputies.

The persecution of Blogger51 is politically motivated and should be stopped immediately, members of the political opposition in the Murmansk Duma say.

The three opposition fractions in Murmansk Duma – the Communist Party, A Just Russia, and the Liberal-Democratic Party on Wednesday held a press conference in Murmansk to state their views on the ongoing case against Aleksander Serebryanikov.

The persecution of Serebryanikov is clearly a political ordering, Mikhail Antropov from the Liberal-Democratic Party believes. “Why has he been picked out as the target for a political attack? Because he allows himself to criticize anyone – the governor, the government and the deputies”, Antropov said.

“You can say there are traces of a political ordering, but the sitting governor does not like to be criticized. If there is criticism on the blog, it is a sign that the authorities lacks a system of feedback communication”, Aleksander Makarevich from A Just Russia said.

Makarevich urged the prosecution office to immediately close the case against Serebryanikov, Flash Nord writes.

“The executive powers should really think twice when three opposition fractions rise to support Aleksander Serebryanikov”. Natalya Leshchinskaya from A Just Russia said, according to Flash Nord.

There were no representatives from the Duma’s largest party, United Russia, at the press conference. They had been advised not to take part by a deputy governor, a source in the fraction informed.

Last week Serebryanikov was summoned to a psychiatric examination and his and his parents’ flats were searched by the FSB.

Serebraynikov was in August charged for violating paragraph 282 in the Russian criminal code because of a comment on his web site in March 2013. The paragraph concerns actions aimed at the incitement of national, racial, or religious enmity. Serebryanikov himself denies all accusations of violating the law.
