But, the government is not yet prepared to ratify the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention 169 on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, reports the Helsinki Times.
According to the newspaper, a governmental report soon to be submitted to the parliament in Helsinki, the government says their aim is to achieve a solution that would satisfy all the provisions in the ILO 169 convention.
Helsinki Times writes that the Finnish government intends to begin negotiations as soon as possible with the Sàmi Parliament.
