Summer in Arkhangelsk is well worth visiting. If you can’t go, let’s hope this photo tour by BarentsObserver is a good substitute.

Location

Join us on the enbarkment of the Northern Dvina river. Experience the land of the Pomors, the people traditionally living around the White Sea.

Walk the streets and see the architecture of the old wooden houses meet the new multi-storey block of flats in the city centre. Take the tour to Malye Korelye, said to be one of the largest open air museums in Europe.

Continue along the pedestrian street linking the marked area with the central square where Lenin is still watching over the administration buildings. Welcome to Arkhangelsk, the largest city in the Barents Region.
