Nenets Autonomous Okrug develops communication

Nenets Autonomous Okrug stays behind other Russian regions in level of communication and Internet development. A new fiber-optic line to Komi will help to overcome this drop.

Location

The fiber-optic cable-laying between Naryan-Mar, Nenets AO and Ust’-Tsil’ma, Komi Republic will be finished this November. Already in first year of work, the line will improve quality of cellular communication, cable TV and Internet. Also it will speed up of the “Electronic Okrug” program’s realization. During first year, the line will work in test mode. The commercial operation will start in 2013. Igor Shyogolev, Russian Minister of communication is going to attend opening ceremony. The constriction of the fiber-optic cable started in June 2011. The cable length is 330 km. The company Rostelecom is constructing the line. The volume of investments is RUB 315.7 million.
